Alpha is a series of conversations about faith and the things we question in life: "Why is life so hard?" "Can my life have a greater meaning?" "Where do I belong?" "Will I ever be happy?" If you're looking for a judgment-free space to connect with new people, discover new perspectives, process questions around faith, and have conversation about real things, this is the place for you. Each week a short creative film is shown on topics like, "Who is Jesus?" and "Why and how can I pray?" to "Who is the Holy Spirit" and "How does God guide?" followed by small group discussion where you can bring your perspective, even if it clashes with that of the film. You can truly ask anything and discuss everything at Alpha.
Alpha gatherings occur in community spaces around the city in the fall, winter, and spring. Registration will open for Alpha 2025 soon. In the meantime, if you have questions or would like help getting connected in community email us at Alpha@VineyardColumbus.org.

1. CONNECTION
Connecting with others is what we were made for. All sessions start with a time to connect over food (if in-person), eliminating awkwardness and creating space for important conversations.
2. CONTENT
Small films with big ideas: Each evening features a 25-minute film designed to inspire more questions than provide answers. These short films explore the big issues around faith, and guests from any background can unpack the basics of Christian faith. Bring your questions, you’ll find you’re not alone.
3. CONVERSATION
Discuss the questions that matter to you: After the film discussion in small groups is where you can share your thoughts and hear from others. Those who attend Alpha share that their small group discussions are hands-down the best part of the experience. The goal is conversation, not consensus.
“I have never felt more accepted and loved than I did in Alpha. It was like I found hope again in my life.”
“One of the best experiences of my life. When I joined Alpha, I wasn’t sure what it was but what I found was special. I loved the videos, the small groups, and the laughter that bound it all together.”
"I’m a Christian, and I’m also a seeker. I will never stop asking questions and thinking deeply. Alpha is a place where I know that I’m loved, where I can explore with others, and not be judged.”
"I was raised to believe that only certain believers were condoned by God. The entry gates to heaven were mostly locked. I was never able to accept the exclusivity of this faith. The discussion facilitated on Alpha enabled everyone to express their ideas and doubts and ask their questions. I appreciated that.”
Alpha is for everyone who is willing to have an honest conversation. No matter your background, history, or beliefs. You are welcome.
Whether in person or online, each Alpha offers a time of connection to build relationships (in-person that is often over food), a short film is presented, and then space for conversation about the content of each film. In that discussion, you can share what you think—as much or as little as you want—and nothing is off limits.
Alpha is free!
